Q What is the registration fee amount? A The regular fee is listed on the registration form for each division. If you register prior to March 15 the fee will be reduced by $25.00. |

| Q What nights will my child play?
A Nights of play have been predetermined by the Inter League committee. Nights of play for each division are listed on the registration form.

| Q How many times per week will my child play ball?
A Games are scheduled once per week.

| Q Will there be regular practices?
A Regular practices are encouraged by Port Perry Minor Softball. The scheduling of practices is left up to individual coaches and usually depends on the coaches’ availability as well as the parents’ willingness to attend practices.

| Q What time will I have to be at the diamond?
A Games begin promptly at 6:30 pm. Some coaches may expect players at the diamond up to ½ hour prior to game time as a warm up.

| Q How long are the games?
A Games are time limited and most are completed before 8:30 pm.

| Q Will I have to travel to play games?
A Port Perry Minor Softball participates in Inter league play with Greenbank and Cartwright. Games are played in all three communities.

| Q Can my child play in a divison higher than his/her age group?
A Yes, please request this on the registration form.

| Q Can my child request to play on the same team as a friend, sibling or relative?
A Yes, please specify this request on the registration form. Port Perry Minor Softball will make every effort to honor your request, however, balanced teams must be our first priority.

| Q My child has never played organized softball. Can he/she start at any age?
A Yes, our programs are set up to encourage first time players to learn the skills and to have fun.

| Q Why can’t Minor Softball coordinate nights of play so they do not conflict with soccer (or any other sport)?
A Port Perry Minor Softball has tried to coordinate with Scugog Soccer to avoid conflicts, unfortunately, there are only 4 nights per week available for scheduling and each association is faced with the challenges of scheduling dependent on numbers of teams and availability of fields.

| Q What is Learn To Play?
A Learn to Play is the newest softball program endorsed by Softball Canada and currently being promoted by Softball Ontario. It is a program designed for children under 10 learning the skills of softball. It replaces the old game of T-Ball with fun activities designed to teach softball skills.

| Q Why are there no scheduled games for 4-6 year olds?
A At this age, most children are not interested in competition. They want to have fun. Learn to Play allows all children of all athletic levels to participate. Most children at this age have not physically developed yet for the game of softball and in game situations, it tends to be only a few aggressive players who participate.

| Q Is there a rep or select team?
A Competitive teams can only be offered when we have capable coaches and sufficient numbers of players in any specific division who are willing to commit to a rep or select program. Open tryouts are advertised for all rep and select teams. Indicate on you registration form if you wish to be advised of tryouts to make sure we contact you.

| Q How can I get involved?
A There are many ways you can assist. Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Divisional Convenors are needed each season. Please indicate on your child’s registration form that you can help. New executive members are always welcome to join. Please send us an email or speak with one of our Executive about attending a meeting.
Q Why do I need a police check to coach?
A As an organization we believe protection and safety of our players is important. Police check screening allows us to make sure we do not accept a coach who may pose any risk to our players. It is also now a requirement of our insurance carrier.
Q Why does my son/daughter have to wear a face guard on the batting helmet ?
A The face guard is an important piece of safety equipment available to batters now. Port Perry Minor Softball executive members voted to make this safety equipment mandatory for all our players as an added measure to prevent unavoidable facial injuries.
